The excitement builds

Its a week early but tomorrow we're celebrating Bree's 4th birthday with a "Tangled" party.  As most people do the day before a party, we spent endless hours cleaning, shopping, prepping, cleaning some more and finally baking the birthday cake.  After I pulled the cake from the oven and placed it on the rack to cool, Bree excitedly asked:

"Now is it my birthday?"

I'll never understand

Bree's school had an open house and Scholastic Book Fair last week.  As I remember going to book fairs when in my school years, I made sure my schedule was clear so we could attend and Jim, who has been working a lot lately, made sure he was home in time to leave with us at 6:30pm.  After an hour of touring her classroom, buying Jacob a new book for Christmas and eating a snack, it time to leave.  In all the Fall glorious-ness, we head out to the parking lot at 7:30pm in almost pitch black.  To which Bree turns to Jim and says:

"Thanks for letting me stay up past dark, Dad."

Why do dads get all the credit??

Hello, My Name is...

Anyone who has ever been around children knows when a child is truly excited about something.  You hear the pride in their voice as they are trying to tell you their accomplishment.  Thus was the case of today.

"Momma, Momma!  I just wrote my name!!"

I couldn't bring myself to correct her today which may lead to a problem or two in the future but she was just so darn proud of herself.

And on another Bree quote...

Bree and I were reading a Dora alphabet book where you have to find a picture for every letter of the alphabet.

We found an apple for 'a', and a book for 'b' when Bree was very quick at adding:

"Booger starts with a 'B' too!"

What must the neighbors think?

The kids and I were playing in the backyard when I heard the mailtruck go by.  As I do any other day, I allowed Bree to go retrieve the mail.  All the way from our mailbox by the road to the backyard, Bree is excitedly screaming:

"Look Momma!  Daddy got a boy magazine! Daddy got a boy magazine!  Daddy got a boy magazine!"

Oh dear goodness, what must the three neighbors that were out working in their yards think?

Right you are, Bree, right you are

Bree pointing to my Bike to the Bay shirt:

"That says carry your bike when you're too tired to ride it."

You have no idea how right you are Bree.

Catching Up

"I can see air!"  - in referrance to having my sunroof open.

"Thats silly.  Dogs don't talk" - Bree says after seeing a cartoon of Martha Speaks

"Momma, why don't their mouths move when they talk" - Bree asks after watching an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba

"Can we go outside and catch some buggin' lights?" (lightning bugs)

Bree- "Mom, is this a tamote?"
Me - "No, Bree, its a REmote.  Say REmote."
Bree - "RE-tamote."
Me - "No, Bree, just REmote."
Bree - "Tree-mote."
Me - "No, Bree, its just..its just... just give it to me."

"I really, really love this movie" says Bree as we left the Archbold Community Theatre's performance of Annie.  I think we have a theatre buff in the making!

Home Remedies

Bree - "MOM!! Ketchup 'nd mac and cheese is GOOD!"

Me - "Really?  I'm glad you like it."

Bree - "It makes my belly feel better.  It makes my boo-boo better too."

Me - "Thats amazing."

Bree - "You wanna try it Momma?"

Me - "Noooo thanks, Honey.  Mommy doesn't like ketchup on her mac and cheese."

Bree - "Maybe when you're this many (holding up three fingers) you'll like it."

Me - "Maybe, Bree, just maybe."

Can we say 'Oink'?

Bree:  I'm hungry.  I didn't have dinner.

Me: Yes you did!  You ate one and a half peanut butter and jellies, chips and dip, four clementines and two small bowls of dried cereal plus a glass of milk!

Bree:  My belly not full.

Me: *sigh*
